Abstract

Abstract: MAN 3 Jember is a school under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. It implements the latest national education system, namely the 2013 Curriculum. However, the implementation of biology instruction based on this curriculum does not always run smoothly. Challenges are inevitable, and there are both strengths and weaknesses in its application. To explore these aspects, the researcher conducted a SWOT analysis. The objectives of this study are to identify and describe the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the implementation of Grade X biology learning based on the 2013 Curriculum at MAN 3 Jember, as well as to explore the efforts made by teachers and students to address the weaknesses and threats encountered during the process. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, both overt and covert observations, and documentation. The analysis involved data collection, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. To ensure the validity of the findings, source and technique triangulation methods were applied. The results of the SWOT analysis revealed that the biology learning process in Grade X, based on the 2013 Curriculum at MAN 3 Jember, includes a combination of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. While the strengths and opportunities present favorable conditions that should be maintained and further developed, the weaknesses and threats pose challenges that must be addressed. It is essential to minimize or even eliminate these negative aspects to improve the effectiveness of biology learning under the 2013 Curriculum.
